What is an inter/trans-disciplinary artist? One who leaps from here to there and back again. One who can always see the big picture. One for whom the world is equally compelling and revolting, revealing and concealing. One who sees the personal and political, creative, social and environmental as often one, and for whom a single medium and point of view is never enough. Triada Samaras www.triadasamaras.com

Samaras is a New England born, Greek-American who has family members living on both sides of the Atlantic. She has lived and worked in Brooklyn, New York for many years. Triada Samaras New Work
Even as the old work gets hung on the wall in an exhibition the new work is already lying around in small piles around the studio.
It helps so much to see the progression from old to new.
Where am I going now? I never know but when the work is all together it looks like I made it cohesive on purpose.
Really any cohesion is a total accident as I never quite know what I am doing with paint. It rules me not the other way around.

This watercolor keeps morphing! It is a 22” x 30” sheet of very durable watercolor paper: (New York Central Watercolor Paper Sheets, 22x30 Inch, 140lb Cold Press, Pack of 10 - Professional Grade, Acid-Free, Archival - for Wet and Dry Media) , and there are some pastels now buried under the water color. The title is “Project 2025” and the painting changes as my hopes for America rise and fall daily.

Q&A About the Fine Art Printing Process
What is a Fine Art Print?
A fine art print is a reproduction or a copy of an artist’s original painting using a digital printing process with archival inks on fine art paper. Fine art printing is the term often used to refer to professional photographs being printed on very high quality paper. This designation, which is by no means a label, meets certain quality criteria, with regard to the paper and inks, which are sought after by many photographers and printers.
What is a Limited Edition?
Limited edition prints have been specifically created by the artist, and there are only a certain number available. The print often comes with a certificate, a number designating which exact pint it is within the total number of reproductions, and the artist's signature to show their authenticity. What is the difference between fine art paper and photo paper?
The difference between fine art paper and commercial photo paper lies in the composition of the paper itself. Natural fibers (usually cotton or alpha cellulose) must be included within the composition of fine art paper. The paper is not artificially bleached with chlorine or other chemicals that would break down the paper and the inks over time. Commercial photo paper is better for photos viewed on an occasional basis, whereas fine art paper will ensure that images are shown off in their best light and provides good performance in exhibitions. Because fine art paper is intended for the printing of high quality photographs, its quality must be ideally suited to receiving inks and pigments. The composition of the surface layer must allow the ink to adhere well over time, while offering a neutral pH to ensure that the paper also stands the test of time. Fine art paper will also allow you to emphasize the composition of the image by providing the ideal support for intense colours and marked contrasts, while also enabling a wide range of grey tones. What is archival ink?
Archival ink is specifically designed to be resistant to weathering and fading so that it will last for a long time. It is often used for scrap-booking and other activities where the written or drawn images need to be preserved indefinitely. To make the most of archival ink, it is best to use it in conjunction with archival paper, which is also made to resist weathering and fading. Read more about this
What is Hahnemühle Paper?
Hahnemühle paper is a fine art quality paper manufactured by Hahnemühle FineArt, Inc., a paper manufacturing company in the Relliehausen district of Dassel, Germany. Founded in 1584 it is a significant producer of coated paper for inkjet printing, artist's paper for traditional painting and printing techniques, and filter paper for industry and research. It is a highly regarded fine art paper used by many professional artists for its quality. Read more about this

En Plein Air in Maine: About the Pine Point Painting and Triada Samaras
This painting Pine Point is my largest to date in this series of "Plein Air" paintings this year. My focus is increasingly on the healing nature of the ocean: the vibrations and patterns of the wind, water and sky on the human body, especially in our moments of sickness and deepest sorrow. Have you ever been to the ocean to heal or grieve? I have done so many times. I have also been there to celebrate often.
The ocean is 'there' for us no matter how we feel, or what we need on any given day. It seems to listen to us and embrace our thoughts and dreams. Yet this reliable phenomenon is also a fragile eco-system, and in grave danger in our era of rapid climate change. Like our own bodies, we can not take its health for granted.
“Fish, amphibian, and reptile, warm-blooded bird and mammal-each of us carries in our veins a salty stream in which the elements sodium, potassium, and calcium are combined in almost the same proportions as in sea water.”
― Rachel Carson, The Sea Around Us LINK
As an artist, I wish to love and honor the ocean that is so present for us freely and without question. I, for one, would feel completely lost without an ocean to contain my human self. How could I thrive without it? I do not see the way. For this reason I am using paint, which I like to call my "liquid light", canvas and wood panels, sustained personal observation outdoors (painting en plan air), and my imagination, electrified when I am on location, to express my gratitude to the sea, my old friend.
"It is a curious situation that the sea, from which life first arose should now be threatened by the activities of one form of that life. But the sea, though changed in a sinister way, will continue to exist; the threat is rather to life itself.”
― Rachel Carson, The Sea Around Us. LINK
