The Interaction/Experience of Color

This is one of the pieces from my new color theory class at Kean University.

For this project, I asked each student to copy the color as closely possible of a section of Grant Wood's "American Gothic" painting.  This project was a take on the Surrealist game, Exquisite Corpse.

Students could work in any medium they felt most comfortable.  When we put them all together it became quite obvious that each student experiences the same color differently and subsequently renders each color differently.

We were all quite amazed by both the differences and the connections between the small pieces. Each student's vision of the color was more or less the same and yet it was not.

And so am I.
