Triada Samaras Inter/Trans-Disciplinary Artist

What is an inter/trans-disciplinary artist? One who leaps from here to there and back again. One who can always see the big picture. One for whom the world is equally compelling and revolting, revealing and concealing. One who sees the personal and political, creative, social and environmental as often one, and for whom a single medium and point of view is never enough. Triada Samaras www.triadasamaras.com

About Me

Triada Samaras
I am an interdisciplinary artist of Greek ancestry whose art practice investigates: human identity, human body, human voice, house/home, geography and language. My paintings, drawings and sculptures are often auto-biographical. Through familiar representations such as: house, home and the body I explore my human feelings, thoughts, memories, perceptions and experiences. However, these recognizable images are almost always metaphors. My projects have been featured at Brooklyn Historical Society, Macy Gallery, Columbia University, Brooklyn Stone House, Nancy Dryfoos Gallery, Kean University, Kentler International Drawing Space, Brooklyn, AthensArt Ukraine and Egypt and published at the Hellenic Chronicle, Interview Bulletin, Columbia University, to name a few. My art praxis and art education pedagogy have evolved synchronistically over my years of art making, activism, and teaching. My current affiliations: Kean University Visual Arts Dept, Union, NJ; William Paterson University Art Education Dept. Wayne, NJ; Art Professor in Residence: Paterson, Public Schools, Paterson, NJ triadasamaras@gmail.com
